Derwen Cottage (Yr Bwthyn Derw) is a perfect place for a retreat for two, a group of friends on an activity break, or a family holiday.
Derwen means oak in Welsh. The cottage is snugly situated between two ancient oak trees, nestled in the Cothi Valley as it winds through the Brechfa Forest, West Wales.
Sleeping up to four adults and four children, or three couples, our friendly cottage is situated between Abergorlech and NantyFfîn (view map). Come and stay, immerse yourself in nature, move, relax, and regenerate a healthy, happy sense of self.
The cottage offers you more comfort and privacy than a bunk house, yet less worry than a posh holiday let: it is a robust and easy-to-use space.
Derwen is a 19th century cowshed conversion, with an upstairs mezzanine loft. Downstairs is an open-plan, large living space including a kitchen with a wood-fired Rayburn and all you need to self-cater. There is a dining corner and a living room space. Beyond the living area there is a separate bedroom. The adjacent bathroom has a toilet, washbasin and shower … if you are looking for bathing luxury then take a look at the Finnish sauna!
The cottage has its own sunny garden, with patio and barbeque. There is ample off road parking and a bike shed (for up to 4 bikes) as well as a bike-wash cleaning area.
