”This week has been perfect! Lovely cozy cottage, amazing location, peace and quiet, forest school, beaches, castles and of course the beautiful sauna experience. This week has gone too quickly.”

”I’m truly sorry to be leaving so soon – my 4 days have sped past all too quickly.
I visited wonderful Llansteffan castle and beach and experienced bliss. When the weather turned, I went to the Botanical gardens and whiled away 5 hours in the woods and under the dome.
The cottage is perfect and has really felt like home these few days. Thank you so much for your warm welcome and for kindly popping in, yet at the same time respecting my time alone.”

”Thanks for a great stay and a warm welcome. It was such a relaxing weekend by the fire and the best bit was the sauna. Although you really had to brace yourself for that plunge pool!”

We have just spent the most wonderful weekend at Derwen Cottage. Maggie met us at the drive as we pulled up to see the cottage surrounded by climbing roses, geraniums, sweet peas, herbs and shaded by a beautiful oak tree. Inside was welcoming and calming with wooden floors, warm rugs, comfy chairs and large laze about cushions. The kitchen had all the equipment needed plus some excellent coffee! A wooden stair ladder led up to a large but cozy bed area underneath a skylight allowing the viewing of the sky and stars as you lay in bed. A great shower room with the prettiest view and plenty of hot water added to the overwhelming comfort of this place. There was only the two of us but there is room enough easily for another two couples or several children to stay within the cottage.
That evening we walked down to the river through Maggie’s land, munching on raspberries picked straight off the bush with the smell of sweet meadow all around. With the help of Pablo, we found a spot to get right down into the water where we cooled off and marveled at the clear water and tranquil surroundings.
Next day nearby Lampeter had a delectable food fair on offer so we snaffled up some tasty food then headed to Aberaeron for a spot of crabbing, before moving onto Penbryn beach for a long swim in the sea and a snooze on the sand. We returned to Derwen via an amazing mountain road to find a bowlful of fresh raspberries and the lovely peace of the cottage waiting for us. We spent our last evening listening to the gentle rain and watching the mist gather and swirl across the valley.
An awful lot of love and care has gone into Derwen Cottage and you can feel this as soon as you arrive. A sense of calm and well being exudes from the whole environment, inside and outside. The finer details, such as soft blankets, huge cushions, proper tea and coffee pots, sharp kitchen knives, big towels and hot water all enhance your experience here.
I would love to return in the autumn and see all the trees turning colours, it would be magnificent. I left this place feeling rested, restored and incredibly happy.
